Director of Drug Prevention

Pulaski County is seeking to fill a full-time Director position for our Department of Drug Prevention. Utilizing Opioid Settlement Funds, Pulaski County is embarking upon a new program that will directly address the ongoing opioid crisis in our community. This position will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to support the ongoing efforts to prevent drug abuse with specific focus on opioid abuse. Applicant must possess a Bachelor’s Degree. A Master’s Degree or equivalent is preferred as well as related experience in social work, mental/behavioral health services, public health or related fields.

The salary scale for this position is $64,029 - $76,800 and is commensurate upon education and experience.

Heavy Construction Crew Equipment Operator

Pulaski County is seeking applicants for a Heavy Construction Crew Equipment Operator. This position is responsible for new construction and maintenance of County properties as well as special projects as assigned. Applicants must have an unrestricted Class A CDL and be able to operate the following equipment: Road tractor with detachable equipment trailer, dump trucks with pintle hitch trailers, track loaders, excavators, rubber tire loader, bucket truck, and other similar heavy equipment.

The salary scale for this position is $36,283 - $58,053 and is commensurate upon education and experience.

E911 Telecommunicator

The County of Pulaski is seeking qualified applicants to fill experienced full-time E-911 Public Safety Telecommunicator positions. Job requirements include receiving and dispatching emergency (911) calls for police, fire and emergency medical services. Experience or training as an emergency communications officer, dispatcher or similar position required.

The salary scale for this position is $40,000 – 60,180 and is commensurate upon education and experience.

Summer Camp Counselor

Responsible for providing indoor and outdoor activities for a wide age range of children. The Randolph Park camp occurs five days per week, ten hours per day during the summer. The Central Youth Camp is five days, five hours per day for four days per week. Counselors must be highly qualified to supervise large groups of children ensuring campers safety, conducting activities, collecting camp fees, frequent cleaning, attending to minor and major injuries and parental inquiries. Must be 16 years of age and actively enrolled as a Junior or Senior. Current enrollment in college or college graduate applicants preferred. Program welcomes current teachers to apply. First Aid and CPR is preferred and may be required based on level of responsibility.

The hourly rate for this position is $13-17 per hour and is commensurate upon education and experience.

Clean-up Crew Worker - Friends of Claytor Lake

The Friends of Claytor Lake (FOCL) is seeking a Clean-up Crew Worker that will be responsible for supporting the FOCL mission, vision, strategic plan, goals and management decisions by working with Pulaski County property owners, the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department and the Pulaski County PSA to clean Claytor Lake of floating debris in the form of wood and trash.

Applicant must possess a valid Virginia Driver’s License. Employee must also successfully pass a drug and alcohol screening as well as a background and driving record check to be considered for employment.

The anticipated hourly rate for this position is $15 per hour; however, the rate is commensurate upon education and experience.

Construction Inspector

Pulaski County is seeking a qualified Construction Inspector that will be required to perform on-site inspections of various contracted construction projects for Pulaski County and the PSA. Inspections will include storage tanks, water pump stations, gravity sewer lines, sewer lift station installation and construction, mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment maintenance/installation on public buildings and facilities as well as pedestrian trail and roadway construction.

Any combination of education and experience including HVAC, Electrical and plumbing certifications are preferred as well as VDOT Materials Certifications for Asphalt Field Level 1 and 2, slurry surfacing, surface treatment, soils and aggregates compaction, pavement marking, concrete field and work zone safety.

Applicant must possess a valid Virginia Driver’s License and undergo a drug, alcohol and background check. The salary scale for this positon is $35,323 – 55,942 and is commensurate based on education and experience. Emergency Medical Services – Field Staff

The Pulaski County Public Safety Department is hiring full-time Emergency Medical Technicians, Advanced EMT's, and Paramedics.

Minimum qualifications include EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic Certification, and completion of a state approved EVOC course. Applicants must be insurable under the Existing County of Pulaski vehicle policy, which currently requires a minimum age of 18 and 1.5 years of driving experience with an acceptable driving record. A background screening and drug and alcohol test is also required.

Full-time staff work 48 hours per week with variable shifts including 24-hour shifts as needed. Salary is commensurate upon education, training and experience. A full benefit package, which includes health, dental, vision, life insurance, VRS retirement, optional 457b retirement plan, paid sick, vacation and holidays are included in this position. A $1,500 recruitment bonus (paid upon successful completion of a precepting program and orientation period) is also included. The employer covers uniform and training expenses.

Grounds Maintenance Technician

Full-time position responsible for the maintenance and mowing of all County owned properties. PSA Deputy Director - Water/Wastewater

The Pulaski County Public Service Authority is seeking to hire a Deputy Director that will oversee the Water/Wastewater Department. This position requires thorough knowledge of water/wastewater engineering and construction procedures, equipment used in the repair maintenance and construction of public works projects, ability to comprehend plans, specifications and detailed reports, supervisory experience, GIS experience, grant experience, etc.

Applicant is required to have a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university and a minimum of five year's experience and must have the ability to obtain a Professional Engineer's License in Virginia. Deputy Sheriff

The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department is hiring for a Deputy Sheriff position. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and must possess a valid Virginia driver’s license. Prefer applicants with State Law Enforcement Certification and two years of college credits; however, selected non-certified LEO applicants will begin the academy in July 2024. Extensive background investigation and medical examination is required. Applicants must have 20/20 corrected vision and have proportionate height and weight. Preference will be given to applicants who are a resident of Pulaski County.

The anticipated salary for non-certified applicants is $49,000 based upon successful completion of the NRV Criminal Justice Training Academy and field training. Tenured LEO’s would receive additional pay based upon experience and years of service ranging from $52,000 - $60,000.
