Sanitation Driver

Applications are now being accepted for the position of Sanitation Driver (Truck Driver) with the Pulaski County Public Service Authority. The successful candidate must also be able to specifically operate a front end loader for this position.

Deputy Sheriff

The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department is now accepting applications for a Deputy Sheriff position. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid Virginia driver’s license. Prefer applicants with State Law Enforcement Certification and two years of college credits. Extensive background investigation and medical examination is required. Applicants must have 20/20 corrected vision and have proportionate height and weight. Preference will be given to applicants who are a resident of Pulaski County.

The anticipated salary for non-certified applicants is $43,500 upon successful completion of the NRV Criminal Justice Training Academy and field training. NRV Airport Manager

The New River Valley Airport Commission is seeking a highly qualified, motivated individual for the position of Airport Manager, who will be responsible for management and oversight of safety and operations of the New River Valley Airport, KPSK, in Dublin, Virginia. The NRV Airport is a general aviation airport with a single 6,201 X 150’ runway. The manager will oversee the FBO operations and all staff to include fueling, aircraft storage and on-demand air cargo operations. The Airport Manager is also responsible for management and oversight of all airport functions, capital improvement projects, maintenance, public relations, grounds and regulatory compliance and enforcement. A successful background check is required.

The anticipated salary for this position is $65,000 and is commensurate upon education and experience. Part Time Line Services Technician - NRV Airport

The New River Valley Airport located in Dublin, Virginia is seeking an individual for a part-time line service technician. The primary responsibilities consist of refueling aircraft, towing aircraft into out of hangars, marshalling aircraft to designated parking spaces, processing sales and responding to customer needs. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and hold a valid Virginia Driver’s License. Prefer aircraft refueling or equipment operational experience (such as a forklift, tractor, etc). Excellent customer service skills and dependability a must.

This is currently a part-time position; however, full-time status is being considered that would include benefits. Pay is commensurate upon education and experience. The anticipated starting pay for a part-time position would be $11.00 per hour.

Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney

An Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney serves as a prosecuting attorney for the Commonwealth of Virginia in select misdemeanor and all felony criminal matters in the District and Circuit Courts of Pulaski County. The main focus of this position will be for additional coverage in General District Court along with coverage for Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court on an as needed basis. As part of the office, this position may serve as a Special Prosecutor in other jurisdictions within the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Pulaski Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office follows a vertical-prosecution model, in which the Assistant responsible for a case will pursue it from investigation or report through adjudication and appeal, as appropriate. A Virginia State Bar license in good standing is required. Perform other tasks related to employment as required by the Commonwealth Attorney of Pulaski County. The start date for this position will be May 1, 2021.

Parks & Recreation Part Time Seasonal Positions - Summer 2021

Randolph Park Lifeguard - Responsible for the safety of all water park patrons and to enforce and adhere to all rules and regulations pertaining to the facility. Applicant must have a current Lifesaving, First aid, and CPR certification and ability to administer aide as necessary. Duties also include daily cleaning and maintenance of the pool, pool deck, all associated equipment, and pool bathhouse which includes restrooms, showers, floors, and emptying trash.

Randolph Park Pool Attendant - Responsible for collecting fees and monitoring patron activity associated with the Randolph Park pool facility. Must have an outgoing personality and have the ability to be kind, friendly, and courteous to the public. Duties include collecting and counting pool entry fees, frequent cleaning of the bathrooms and surrounding areas, attending to minor injuries, emptying trash, and handling general public inquiries.

Randolph Park/Central Youth Center Summer Camp Counselor - Camp Counselors must be highly qualified to supervise large groups of children in both an indoor and outdoor setting. Work includes supervising large groups of children, ensuring campers safety, conducting activities, collecting camp fees, frequent cleaning of camp related areas, attending to minor and major injuries, and handling general inquiries from parents. Current enrollment or college graduate applicants are preferred. Desired age for applicants is at least 18 years old. Previous related experience working with children is preferred.

Aquatics Director - The Aquatics Director is responsible for the management of the Randolph Park Outdoor Pool. This includes hiring, training and supervision of lifeguards, pool attendants. Responsible for the operation of pool chemistry and operation of equipment. Employee is responsible for ensuring compliance with park rules and regulations by pool patrons and maintaining pool entire pool facility. Employee is responsible for the safety and security of entire pool, employees, and patrons. Employee must exercise tact and courtesy in frequent contact with pool patrons. Minimal educational requirement is graduation from high school, must be a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or a certified Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO), must be certified in First Aid and CPR, must be at least 18 years of age and previous management of a pool facility is preferred.

  • Flexible schedule to work on weekends, mornings, and evenings throughout the summer
  • Possession of a valid driver’s permit issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia (only exception is potential applicant having not yet received driving privileges due to age)

Emergency Medical Technicians (Part-time)

The Pulaski County Public Safety Department intends to offer part time employment to qualified Emergency Medical Technicians. It is anticipated that several part-time positions will be selected to begin orientation during the Spring of 2021.

Water Meter Reader

The Pulaski County Public Service Authority is seeking a Water Meter Reader. This position is responsible for routine clerical field work accurately reading and recording water meter readings, record keeping, reporting meter defects, data entry, collection of water samples, operation of handheld equipment and vehicles and assisting other personnel in the maintenance and repair of utilities, etc. Position requires a valid driver’s license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia and successful completion of a background and drug test.

Pulaski County is seeking three Grounds Maintenance Technicians that are responsible for the maintenance and mowing of all County owned properties while providing a safe and esthetic environment for our citizens. Must be able to operate mowers, edger’s, weed eaters, chain saws, trimmers, etc. Must possess a valid Commonwealth of Virginia Driver’s License and a Virginia Commercial Driver’s License with a Class A endorsement is preferred but not required.

Animal Care Specialist

The Pulaski County Animal Shelter is accepting applications for three part-time Animal Care Specialists. This position performs routine semi-skilled custodial work involving the care and cleaning of the animal shelter and ensures that proper cleaning protocol is adhered to by all those participating in cleaning of kennels and cages. Applicants should have good knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment. Requires a high school diploma or GED. Experience working with animals is desirable. Rate of pay is $11 per hour. Working hours will be determined but will be set at no less than 4 hours per day or no more than 5 hours per day beginning at 8:00 a.m., Monday-Friday.

The County of Pulaski is seeking to fill four experienced full-time E-911 Public Safety Telecommunicator postions. The salary range for this position is $30,000 - $55,000 and is commensurate upon education and experience. Job requirements include: receiving and dispatching emergency (911) calls for police, fire and emergency medical services. Applicant must successfully pass a thorough background investigation, drug screen and have no felony convictions. Experience or training as an emergency communications officer, dispatcher or similar position required.
