Location: Pulaski Office:  Serving Localities of Bland, Carroll, Floyd, Giles, Grayson, Pulaski, Montgomery, Wythe, Cities of Galax and Radford.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Performs duties under the supervision of the Director of Programs, requires frequent contact with the General District Court Judges, Magistrates, Defense Attorneys, Local Police Departments, and Jail Officials. Must be able to supervise Offenders utilizing Motivational Interviewing/ Effective Communication Skills. Will require working non-standard hours to include early morning, evenings, and weekends, may require 24 hour “on-Call” status, must respond to emergency situations as needed.

Qualifications/Experience:  Any combination of education and experience equivalent to Bachelor’s/ or Associate’s degree in criminal justice/human resources/psychology, supplemented with 1 to 2 years of experience.  Must possess a Virginia driver’s license and pass a criminal background check.

JOB DESCRIPTION- Provides supervision for offenders placed on Local Probation Supervision by the court. Utilizes Motivational Interviewing/Effective Communication skills, maintains all files in accordance with State and Local Standards, attends court, completes risk assessments, develops treatments plans, provides written reports, and obtains drug samples.  Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other service providers, court personnel, law enforcement personnel, community groups and the Department of Criminal Justice Services.

Skills & Requirements:  Knowledge of the criminal justice system and court ordered supervision. Effectively plan and manage assigned caseload, ability to handle stressful situations and high-risk individuals, computer knowledge, able to communicate orally and in writing.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:  Any combination of education and experience equivalent to Bachelor’s/ or associate’s degree in criminal justice/ human resources/psychology, supplemented with 1 to 2 years of experience. Must possess a valid Virginia driver’s license, pass a criminal background check. Some overnight travel required.
